Ever since I started this project on fandom I have done a complete turn-around on my opinions towards slash and fanfiction and fanart and the whole lot of participatory activities. I used to be so wary of it but now I wholly appreciate fandom as a space for challenging the hegemonic status quo and not giving a single hot damn who tries to fight you on it. 

Full disclosure: I had a midterm today for my ‘women and gender in Ancient Egypt’ class and one of the images for the slide ID was from a tomb where two men were buried together, and the prevailing theory is that they’re so queer for each other. so I wrote SLASH UP EGYPTIAN ART!! in the margins because I was so enthusiastic over the prospect of queering archaeology.
